This privacy policy applies to the Chrome extension "Papier" developed by LA COMPAGNIE DES INTERNETS BORDELAISE.

1. Data Collection

Papier collects minimal data, only when you choose to enable Sync:

Without Sync: No data is collected. Your notes stay on your device.
With Sync: We collect your Google email address and profile name to create your account.

We do not use any analytics, tracking, cookies, or fingerprinting technology.

2. Local Storage

Your notes are always stored locally in your Chrome browser using localStorage. This works without any account or internet connection.

3. Papier Sync (Optional)

If you choose to enable Sync:

End-to-end encryption: Your notes are encrypted in your browser before being sent to our server. We cannot read your notes.
What we store: Your encrypted notes, your email address, your encryption key (for cross-device sync), and your subscription status.
What we cannot access: The content of your notes.
Server location: Frankfurt, Germany (DigitalOcean).

4. Payment

Papier Sync is a paid service. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information.

5. Google Sign-In

We use Google Sign-In to authenticate your account. We only request access to your email address and profile name. We do not access your Google Drive, contacts, or any other Google service.

6. Required Permissions

storage: To save your notes locally
identity: For Google Sign-In (Sync only)
alarms: For periodic background sync (Sync only)
api.papier.page: To communicate with our sync server (Sync only)

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party. The only third party involved is Stripe for payment processing.

8. Data Deletion

Local notes: Uninstall the extension or clear its storage.
Sync account: Log out from the extension. To request full deletion, email us.

9. Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, delete, and export your data, and to revoke granted permissions.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Changes will be published on this page.
